Paola Navone has designed a new sofa collection for the Italian furniture brand Natuzzi
The renowned designer has created the Argo, inspired by Mediterranean colours and traditions. Navone is known for her global outlook, collecting ideas and influences from all over the world. ‘Travelling is my way of breathing,’ she says.
‘Travelling is a way of looking at the world. As I travel, I store colours, shapes, materials, sensations, looks in my head. There is always something different and unexpected. With a new project , the elements necessary to create the new idea come to light, almost by magic … ‘
With the Argo sofa, she has evoked the peaceful and relaxed lifestyle of Puglia. The Argo’s generous dimensions and soft, laid-back look are amplified by the 3D padding and an unexpected detail – two large brackets that sink into the backrest and reach through the sofa into the rear where they end in a martingale detail. The low feet are almost invisible too also accentuate the casual style of the furniture. Available in two- and three-seater versions as well as a swivelling armchair, the Argo can be upholstered in traditional leather or fabric upholstery, as well as a new Water textile, created by Dutch company BYBORRE in collaboration with Natuzzi’s creative director Pasquale Junior Natuzzi. Made from a thread that combines wool with recycled PES, it reflects his love of the sea and the movement of waves.
